Mascot vs Mascot Pet Food Drive: Massillon Tigers vs McKinley Bulldogs

In addition to their nearly 130-year rivalry on the gridiron, Washington Massillon and Canton McKinley High Schools will come together in a competitive donation drive for Meals On Wheels of Northeast Ohio’s Wags for Wheels program now through October 19, 2023.

The Massillon Tigers will collect cat food goods, while the Canton McKinley Bulldogs will collect dog food goods. Drop-off sites include:

  • Massillon Ticket Office: 1 Paul E Brown Dr SE, Massillon, OH 44646
  • Memorial Field House: 2323 17 St. NW, Canton, OH 44708
  • Meals On Wheels: 2363 Nave Rd SE, Massillon, OH 44646
  • D24 Fitness: 3313 Lee St., N. Canton, OH 44720

The pet food will be donated to Meals On Wheels NEO’s Wags for Wheels program, which provides free pet food to keep homebound seniors together, happy, and healthy with their pets. Meals On Wheels NEO, a program of VANTAGE Aging, delivers nearly 600,000 meals annually to the homes of seniors and disabled individuals across Stark, Summit, Wayne, Tuscarawas, Homes, Carroll, and Portage Counties.

“We are excited to kick off this first-ever collaboration with two communities that we are deeply connected to,” said Vantage Aging CEO Kim Ventresca. “We enjoy the friendly competition, and the result helps our community’s most vulnerable population. With free pet food available to Meals On Wheels clients, seniors don’t need to worry about how to obtain or afford food for a pet that may be their only companion.”

Whichever community brings in the most food items wins this competition. The winner will be announced during halftime at the Massillon-McKinley football game on October 21, 2023, at Tom Benson Stadium.
