Meals on Wheels of Northeast Ohio – Volunteer drivers needed in Stark County!
Our Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver more than just a meal. They provide important companionship and a watchful eye on the health and safety of our senior and home-bound clients. Our drivers are some times the only people our clients see during the day and are helpful in identifying emergencies or health hazards.
You can make a difference in just over an hour!
Our volunteer drivers cover more than 65 routes in Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties every weekday (except holidays). A typical route takes about an hour to complete with some rural routes lasting 75-90 minutes.
Benefits of volunteering
- Training and mileage reimbursement included
- Stop-by-stop directions provided in a handy, compact tablet with GPS.
- Set schedules during the week for easy planning. Most volunteers arrive at our sites around 10:40 a.m. Meals are ready for delivery at 10:45 a.m.
- Flexible schedules – most volunteers serve 1-2 days per week. Others drive every other week or even once a month.

Looking to volunteer as a company or organization? Adopt-a-Route!
Adopt-a-Route is great for companies and organizations looking for regularly occurring volunteer opportunities.
- Select a site near you
- Choose a preferred day of the week
- Cover that route regularly (weekly, biweekly, monthly)
- Recruit staff members to take turns delivering meals.
For example, if a business agrees to cover one (1) route a week and eight (8) employees volunteer to help, then those employees can pair up and each employee only needs to deliver one (1) time per month.
Participating organizations find it’s great for building teamwork and camaraderie while instilling a sense of pride through community service, making it a beneficial partnership for the group and Meals on Wheels!
