Caregiver Solutions – Caring for Those With Cancer (September 2023)

Our Caregiver Solutions series of monthly events are provided through a grant from Direction Home Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities. Caregivers can join us from the convenience of their homes on the second Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. If you pre-register, you can ask questions through the webinar or join us here on the Vantage Aging Facebook Page, where the webinar will be shared live. Caregivers can also revisit, or watch missed episodes on Facebook.

Who joined us?

On September 12th, 2023, Caregiver Solutions hosted Sarah Vojtek, the President and CEO of Stewart’s Caring Place, and Christina White, Director of supportive and Integrative Programs at Summa Health Cancer Institute, to discuss resources and services for individuals with cancer and those caring for them.

Stewart’s Caring Place

Stewart’s Caring Place was founded in 2003 in memory of Dr. Stewart Surloff by the family. They offer 150+ programs and services to anyone who feels the impact of a cancer diagnosis at no cost. They provide wrap-around services for patients, caregivers, and loved ones.

In September 2020, Stewart’s Caring Place moved into its new building in Fairlawn on Cleveland-Massillon Road. The new building’s 12,000 square feet allows them to deliver even more services such as:

  • Wigs
  • Reiki
  • Massage
  • Support groups
  • Book clubs
  • Caregiver-specific support groups
  • Cooking classes in collaboration with Summa Health Cancer Institute with assistance from dieticians in their teaching kitchen
  • Family fun nights and holiday parties
  • Summer camps for children
  • A resource library

Stewart’s Caring Place services 18 counties in Ohio through the generous support of the community and its partners. Hybrid options for things such as support groups, book clubs, and other services have helped them to expand their reach. All amenities are offered at no cost thanks to support from community donors, including foundations, corporations, individuals, and 150 volunteers. Anyone can call the office, complete the participation form online, or stop at their building. For more information, please visit Stewart’s Caring Place’s website, call 330-836-1772, or visit the building at 3501 Ridge Park Drive, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
