Mature Services Needs Food Pantry Volunteers

Mature Services in Summit County Needs Food Pantry Volunteers: Help the Hungry and Give Back to Your Community

September 1, 2016, Akron, Ohio – Mature Services is in desperate need for Emergency Food Pantry volunteers. Serving over 400 new clients each month and providing meals to homebound seniors in need of emergency food supplies, we have several volunteer positions available. If you care about seniors or food insecurity in the Akron area, we are seeking volunteers to assist with stocking and serving as pantry counselors.

Volunteers are needed on Monday and/or Wednesdays from 8:30 am-noon to pick up food from the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, unload the truck (must be able to lift 30 lbs.), and stock shelves. Volunteer pantry counselors assist the Emergency Food Pantry coordinator for a minimum of two hours per week with greeting, registering clients in a computer database, and helping with food selections. Volunteers must be able to stand for at least 2 hours, communicate well, and maintain confidentiality.

Helping in the Food Pantry is a great opportunity for individuals or companies seeking ways to give back to our community. To volunteer, please contact Valerie Henderson, Community Outreach Representative, at vhenderson@matureservices.org or call 330.253.4597 ext. 169 to learn more and sign up.
