SUBARU OF AMERICA AWARDS MEALS ON WHEELS FUNDING FOR SHARE THE LOVE

Akron, OH (April 15, 2019) – VANTAGE Aging is honored to share it received $9,928.38 in funding from Subaru of America.

This funding is the result of the VANTAGE’s former Meals on Wheels of Northern Ohio program and the former Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties program. Before merging in 2019, these two agencies participated in Subaru’s Share the Love Campaign and encouraged individuals to purchase and/or lease new Subaru vehicles.

From November 15, 2018, through January 2, 2019, Subaru of America donated $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer’s choice of participating charities. Meals on Wheels America was an option for customers to choose. In Ohio, Subaru customers raised $62,052.42 through this year’s Share the Love Event. Each of VANTAGE’s former programs earned $4,964.19.

“Meals on Wheels America was thrilled to partner with Subaru of America for the Subaru Share the Love Event for the eleventh year in a row,” said Ellie Hollander, President and CEO, Meals on Wheels America. “Since 2008, the Subaru Share the Love Event has helped local Meals on Wheels programs deliver more than 2 million meals to vulnerable seniors nationwide. We remain proud and grateful to have the generous support of Subaru in helping us ensure that homebound seniors receive the daily nutrition and companionship they need to thrive.”

Over the last 10 years, Subaru of America and its participating retailers have donated more than $118 million to its charity partners. This year’s Subaru Share the Love Event helped raise that number to approximately $140 million, proving there’s no limit to the amount of love we can all share.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Share the Love by purchasing or leasing a Subaru and spreading the word, and thank you to Subaru of America for continuing to support Meals on Wheels.
