VANTAGE Aging is excited to be participating in the Akron Community Foundation’s On the Table Akron! On the Table is a unique event where thousands of residents from all walks of life come together to share a meal and talk about actionable ways to strengthen our community.
It’s a great opportunity to gain insight into what will shape our region into a strong, vibrant and safe place to live and work. We can then take those meaningful ideas to develop a strategic plan to better the greater Akron area.
How does On the Table Work?
On October 3 and throughout the week, conversations will be held in person at locations across Akron, including libraries, churches, restaurants, and offices. Conversations happen with groups of 8 to 12 people.
You can find a list of all the public conversations happening here. Be sure to join in on the conversation!
VANTAGE will be a Super Host and will have conversations throughout the week with staff members, Meals on Wheels Congregate diners, and participants in our Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP).
Why Are We Doing On the Table?
Akron Community Foundation recognizes that big ideas often stem from small conversations. On the Table provides the opportunity for these conversations to occur in a face-to-face setting. Individuals can find common ground on community issues and challenges that matter to the people in Akron.
Conversations will focus on five categories: Economic Issues & Poverty, Equity & Social Inclusion, Drugs & Addiction, Education & Youth Development, and Public Safety & Judicial System.
