This website provides legal information and resources useful to older adults, including specifics about social security, Medicare and Medicaid, estate planning and other matters. Elderlaw Answers does not provide legal advice but can help you locate a qualified elder care attorney near you.

ElderCare Matters
A free online resource linked with an alliance of more than 1,400 eldercare experts who assist individuals and families with issues of aging. The site offers help and direction with 68 different services, including elder law, estate planning, geriatric care, insurance, senior housing and more.

Healthcare.gov
The official government clearinghouse for information on health insurance and the health care reform act passed in March 2010. It is the first site to provide data in one place on both private and public insurance options across the nation. Highlights include an insurance options finder, extensive consumer rights information, prevention tips, and care assessment tools.

Medicare.gov
The official U.S. government site for Medicare. The site explains benefits, eligibility, and enrollment; provides health management and illness prevention information; and offers links to resources and support, including the downloadable “Medicare and You” handbook.

MedlinePlus
The National Institute of Health’s Web site for patients and their families with information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in easy to understand language.

Veteran Resources

Department of Veteran’s Affairs (national)
A site providing comprehensive information on benefits available to military veterans in all branches of service, such as medical and education benefits, home loans, survivors’ benefits, and pensions. All services to veterans are explained in detail with links to related government resources.

Summit County Veterans Service Commission 
Assists veterans with financial assistance, transportation to VA medical facilities, and applying for VA benefits.

Stark County Veterans Service Commission 
Assists veterans with financial assistance, transportation to VA medical facilities, and applying for VA benefits.

Home-delivered Meals for Veterans

Qualified veterans and their spouses may be eligible for up to 180 free meals per year provided by Meals on Wheels of Northeast Ohio. Call Meals on Wheels of Northeast Ohio at 330-515-5605 to see if you qualify in Stark, Summit, and Wayne Counties.

METRO Regional Transit Authority
Provides innovative transportation that is safe, dependable, cost-effective, and customer focused for Summit County region.

Summit County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services Board (ADM Board)
The County of Summit ADM Board funds and/or supports a network of organizations that offer a variety of services that help individuals in recovery.

Summit County Info Line (211)
Providing information and referral to connect people to health and human services.  Also provides housing services, Lifeline, and MedAssist to help uninsured, low-income Summit County residents to access free and low-cost prescription medications and health care.

Summit County Community Health Improvement Plan
A long-term, systematic effort to address public health problems based on the results of community health assessment activities and the community health improvement process.

Access Health Stark
